On October 1st 2007, at about 9:30am, a vacant two story house on D Street in the Knightville neighborhood of Portland exploded because of a natural gas leak. Because there is still an active leak in the area, an area bounded by Waterman Drive and C, E, Ocean Streets has been evacuated by police. Utility crews had responded to the report of the gas leak about an hour before the house exploded. Fresh copy to be cached until 7:19:22 PM
