All six of Maine's "deck truss" bridges, the same kind as the bridge in Minneapolis that collapsed earlier in the year, have been declared safe by the Department of Transportation. One of the bridges was in need of new paint, but "I want to stress that all of these bridges are safe," said John Buxton, the leading bridge maintenance engineer of [MainDOT]Create?.
