Starting in 1953, Dr. Kenneth Carr became a weapons expert and recieved an engineering award for the excellence of his work. Now, the holder of 39 patents has changed fields to medicine, designing medical devices; among them, a device for heating the blood of hypothermic patients, and several that use micorwaves to diagnose and treat cancer. Why might he have chosen such a radically different field of work? Because, "If an engineer is not curious, he is only a technician," as he puts it. He is President, founder and CEO of Meridian Medical Systems, LLC.
